Nice Keychain

My friend stumbled upon this and introduced it to me and I’ll share it here.

I’m sure funny keychains are not something new but I find this kind particularly amusing.

pig_front.jpgpig_side.jpgpig_side_pooping.jpg

It looks like a normal animal keychain but once u squeeze it, it’ll poop. Kinda cool huh..it comes in many other forms of animals too. Great stress reliever.

Piggy : “You’re squeezing the sh*t outta me!!”  Haha

Wonder if they have these in Malaysia, I’d love to have one of these.

Cafe Invasion

I came across a rather interesting article in the Star this morning. As a matter of fact, it was Sunday’s paper but being the busy guy as I am, I never did get a chance to read it. At least not until I took out a piece of that said paper to prepare my breakfast did I chance upon that column.

It was an article about a straight-A student who, at the age of 17, managed to open her own restaurant. It all started when she was transferred to a school where most of the students there dont come from well-to-do families. So while she can rejoice in the fact that she is quite the top scorer in her SPM and has a chance to further her studies overseas, she didnt like the idea of leaving her friends behind. Some of whom, would probably not have a chance in going into college, much less getting a job.

She persuaded her father into allowing her to start her own business, namely the restaurant I mentioned. This way, she can try her hand at doing something she likes while also providing job opportunities to her fellow schoolmates. Now this restaurant is managed by people no older than 18-years-old.

Now I dont know what you guys think, but what strike me first was how lucky she is. She has a father, who after years of saving for her education, lets her use the money instead to pursue her dreams. Of course as Ms Yoong said to me this morning, do I consider myself unlucky just because I dont have a father like that? Of course not. She’s lucky that she, unlike so many others, has a chance to start something big at such a young age, without having to worry if such a business can actually sustain itself. With so much competition, I wonder how long it’ll last……

Cafes are mushrooming all over the place this days. Prince, Wong Kok, Kopitiam, are among the few that has joined the ranks of those that cater to the younger generation where everybody hangs out at a hip and cool place, having a drink while spending time with friends. But what sets a particular cafe apart from the rest? Is it the food? Atmosphere? Price? Or is it just because everyone else hangs out there and so it seems that place is good when it actually isnt? You might be surprised, there is this Kopitiam is Taipan USJ where the service is terrible, the food is appalling, the price is unreasonable, and yet people still go there! Either they put drugs in the food, or people are going there just for the sake of trying to be seen as “cool”.

What do YOU think makes a cool place to hang out? Recommend some places for others to try. Tell us why its worth a visit and share your experiences. Do comment!

Stop Piracy!

I’ve always been a fan of Heroes of Might and Magic game, been playin it since I was in standard 6. Recently the release of the HOMM 5 has got me really excited and I was really looking forward to playing it. So the first time, I bought the game in the Mines, Serdang for 8 bucks but only to find that my computer couldn’t run it. So brought it back and the shop’s computer could run it perfectly, so I thought what the hell…then went back try again..but to no avail..then decided to buy it again for 6 bucks, the Mines again… and the same sh*t happened, (sorry for the language Zac, I’m frustrated). Then yesterday, I decided to give it a final shot, 10 bucks at the Summit, Subang Jaya and ya know what? Same sh*t happened… wtf.. I blew 24 bucks on the same f*cking game and I tried running them on 4 different computers already and they don f*cking work!

This is not just piracy, this is robbery.. making us pay for sh*t that doesn’t work…damn..wont buy another piece of pirated game anymore..

Halal or not?

Came across an article in The Star news paper, “Jakim : Imported Turkey not halal”.

Excerpt :

“Muslims are advised not to consume imported turkey and turkey-based products meant for the Christmas and New Year celebrations as they are not halal

Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) director-general Datuk Mustafa Abdul Rahman said the Government had allowed the import of the products especially for the two festivities.

“Consequently, all imported turkey products in the market from Nov 19 will be deemed non-halal,” he said in a press statement issued here yesterday.

The department had also issued special guidelines for supermarkets and other outlets to follow in selling the products to prevent confusion among Muslims. One of them is that all the products must have non- labels on them. – Bernama  ”

Correct me if I’m wrong but during my time in primary and secondary school, “non-halal” means only one thing. NON-HALAL = PIGS & DOGS, these two are the only creatures i can think of. The reasons why they are not to be consumed is understandable but turkey?? Is it because of what they feed the turkey with? Enlighten me.

If any of you have been watchin Tv2 or Ntv7 in the afternoon would have bumped into this advertisement bout a ‘HALAL’ toothpaste. What are the ingredients used in common brands like Darlie or Colgate that makes them inferior to this particular brand of toothpaste in terms of ‘halal’lity. Or are they just using this issue to their advantage? Maybe something like bread of some certain brand would be branded as ‘non-halal’ someday…

Then it made me think, what is the definition of ‘halal’? Or did they come up with some new definition?

Girls, What Guys Do To Get Them

Phew another week has come and gone, at least I can find some time to blog as my assignments are all handed it. Been awhile since I’ve dropped by, and I was rather amused with the comments I received from my last entry. You can bet my critics were mostly girls, not to mention CaiYin who wrote her own blog in “creative retaliation” rather than being satisfied and giving me a comment instead. For Caiyin: I used the word “generally” ok?

Well no one can say that everything in this world has to be like this or like that. So for generalities I’m here again to give my two-cents-worth of comments, this time on guys and their neverending attempts at attracting a girls attention. Yeap, I’m sure every guy has gone thru this before? But what does it entail?

Firstly, the guy has to try and create some sort of friendly relationship. This simply means that the guy has to take the first step to try and introduce himself to a hot but nevertheless complete stranger. Of course from this comes the birth of all the worlds “pick-up” lines that range from the the most hilarious to the most dreadful….. This might not be a problem for some, yet its a tough thing to do – especially if you’re shy. I’ll not mention names, bt my friend is like, “Hey, check out that girl”. Naturally, I’d say ok and suggest he makes a move. After all, you cant stare the whole day and just do nothing right? But all I get is a witty “The reason I’m telling you is for YOU to make a move……….” Okaay………But this can sometimes lead to embarassing, if not disastrous results. I for one, has used the same “opening-line” twice on the same girl without knowing it.

Pick-up Lines

Second? Normally the next step for the guy is to keep in touch with her. Basically this would involve not stalking, but frequenting her favourite places in the hopes of “accidently” bumping into her, which may lead into a rather fruitful attempt in striking a conversation. Of course you have to be smart with this, and try to avoid any awkward moments that may put you in a unfavourable light, namely, by looking like a pest….

Next up is remembering her birthday. And getting her gifts on special occasions. This shouldnt be a problem, unless of course she just goes home and dumps it in the rubbish bin. At least you wouldnt know. Nah, the worst possible scenario would be if she rejects it outright. In front of everybody. Great. Now us guys should know this by now – we can never buy a person’s love. (Of course with some, you might but….I’ll comment on that next time). Buying her lavishing gifts can only make you look like a loser who gets a girl not from his personailty, but from how deep his pocket is. And we wouldnt want that right? Right? Of course nothing can be worse than the one I’m about to tell u of. From my own experience even. Yes, it might be silly but the good thing is, I ended up with two presents. Go figure.

My advice. A sure-fire way is just by being yourself. Yeap, confidence is key. Isnt it sad that when trying to impress a girl, we have to resort to all those “tricks” and being somebody we’re not? No, we should just be who we are, and let that special something in us shine though. Hopefully, the one you admire might see it, and she is the one for you. And if even THAT doesnt work, you can always stick to Plan B! Get her near a water dispenser, and use it to your advantage. You’ll get what I mean hahaha

Inconsiderate n Rude Family Encountered

Yesterday’s experience in a cinema was an eye opener. Me and my girl went to 1U, GSC to catch a movie, Happy Feet. Everything was ok, as usually until this family came sit behind us. A couple with a daughter. Bout 5 mins after they sat down, I noticed our seats were being kicked constantly so I looked back and I was surprised to see the daughters feet resting on top of my girl’s seat! And the parents didnt not bother to do anything even after I keep looking back at them hoping that they would be ’smart’. After about 20 mins I couldn’t take it anymore so I typed an sms n turned my phone to them. It went like this

“Can you please ask your daugther to not hang her legs there, its very uncomfortable for us. Please be considerate and thank you. “

Only after that, the girls stopped hanging her legs there but the kicking still happens from time to time. I understand their love for their child but that doesn’t mean that they can just let them do whatever they want i.e annoying other people. All of us paid the same 10 bucks to enjoy the movie and that’s what I’m gonna get. So I wonder if I didn’t show them the sms, will they allow their daughter to do that throughout the whole movie? Such ignorance or should I say lack of family education. I’m sure they will be more considerate next time after yesterday.. I hope

Girlfriend – Asset or Liability? – Girl’s point of view

Referring to our fellow author, zac’s post, I would like to give a girl’s point of view on the matter. Hmm..or rather my point of view to be exact (not every girl has the same mindset)

I have to agree that having a girlfriend IS expensive for guys. All of your expenses have to be multiplied by two and not to mention the extra petrol needed to travel to and fro from your house to your beloved one’s house. It is commonly agreed that a guy should not even think about getting a girlfriend if he cannot even afford his own expenses.

However if you really like the girl and the girl likes you as much or more then having a girlfriend can be very much affordable and enjoyable. Meals and movies expenses can be dutch and presents do not have to be shiny and expensive. Most girls will very much appreciate a small and inexpensive or even handmade gift if it is toughtful enough. Unless of course you’re attracted to a materialistic girl then that’s a different story all together.

Most of my girl friends go dutch with their boyfriends when they’re out for meals except for special occasions (Valentine’s, birthdays, x’mas, etc..) During these special occasions usually it’s the guys’ duty to take the bill as I’m sure they’ll feel insulted if the girl insist on paying her part. As for gifts…let me give you an example of a thoughtful gift…let’s say your gf is a super huge fan of some singer…you can search up all the news about the singer and make your gf a scrapbook or a huge poster. It is not exactly expensive, just time-consuming but I’m sure you’ll find it worthwhile when you see the smile on her face upon receiving your gift. So it is really up to you to decide on how big a hole u wanna burn.

Furthermore, (this is to reuben =P) you should not view each past relationship as “nuts”. The fact that there was even a relationship to begin with was because the life of the both of you somehow cross-path and you were both attracted to each other. Whether or not your path in life will continue to merge or to divide after sometime depends on how well the two of you can accept and live with each others flaws. You should never talk badly about an ex because at some point in your life, he/she was your significant other and has been by your side through some ups and downs. Instead of talking bad bout your other half, you should keep the happy memories u’ve had together and go on with your life.

These are my opinions and I think guys should view things from different angles to see the whole picture. =)

The memorisation continuation….

Hmmm…this was supposed ot be a comment, but as it turned out to be more long-winded than expected… and also due to the posting-quota I needed to fill…so… might as well kill 2 stones with 1 bird.

Hahahha! I thought I had been saying this all the while. Hmm maybe not to you fellas… It’s true… every single exam that we take, it’s all about the memorising. In fact, it really doesn’t take much understanding to do an exam, just plain memorising will get you far.
However, there is a reason for all of this… it’s because after a long long..loooooong while.. memorisation is the basis of understanding. Lemme prove this to you… when you were in primary school, and you were learning the multiplication tables, they practically forced us to remember them. Didn’t really teach us to understand them..just memorise. But now…after years of memorising and using them… we can understand! We know why 2×3 is the same as 2+2+2. We know that multiplication of two numbers could be an area. Err..along those lines…..

That’s the reason why, when you first started form 4..and you struggled with physics and all…and you feel that you couldn’t understand a single thing..well it’s because you didn’t memorise enough. Seriously! Just memorise…you’ll realise after a while that you suddenly understand things a little better. I learnt that from my STPM years.. couldn’t ..well couldn’t understand physics at all. I spent a whole month “studying” …which actually I would say was actually “memorising” the text book…and tada! At the end of the month..I could actually understand bits and pieces of what I was doing.

Unfortunately though, I agree with MK. Our education system is totally wrong. It creates a nation of superb memorisers. Those that can’t memorise are cast out..alienated from the so-called “educated community”. Those who are smart and not are just divided by their abilty to memorise… and of course memorising isn’t that hard in the first place. I’m sure you know a friend…who’s like an idiot at studies but can memorise DoTA inside out! ..it’s all about the effort. and passion of course =)

Back to education… all we are taught to do is memorise… of course we have a bit of practicals to keep us..well practical, but it’s far outweighed by exams…and exams are the ones that are gonna get us that first class honours! Not hands on experience…
A shame really as that’s the reason companies have to filter out the students…those who can actually do work..rather than those that just know the theory of things…and nothing else. Our constant memorisation has completely stifled our creativity…our imagination.. hahaha another quote from Einstein: Imagination is more important that knowledge. That is how all his theories came about anyway…imagination…
Seems to be the reason why …even as our country continues to churn out more straight A’s students (well partly because the standard has also dropped hahaha) …we are not advancing much. We all know the same thing…the same thing that was taught in schools. That’s why we throw away our knowledge of previous sems after we’re done with them…and why grads come out knowing..completely nothing…

This could go on forever…but I should save this for another day……..
Sigh…and the 2 stones and 1 bird was purposefully done… It was meant as a sarcastic remark…but unfortunately…I’ll probably get some dumb comment correcting that statement so please…save your energy..
